Snap
Also known as: snapd, Snap Store
Canonical's containerized package format for apps and services, installed from the Snap Store and default on Ubuntu.
What Is Snap in Linux?
Snaps bundle an app with its dependencies and run it under AppArmor confinement. They update automatically in the background and can hold command-line tools and server software as well as desktop apps.
Critics point to slower startup, the single Canonical-run store, and forced updates. Ubuntu ships some core apps, like Firefox, as snaps by default.
