Kapowarr: Comic Book Library Manager

Kapowarr brings the *arr approach to comic books: define the volumes you collect, and it tracks which issues you have, which are missing, and fetches the gaps.

How it works

You add a volume, Kapowarr pulls metadata from ComicVine, and it builds a checklist of every issue. From there it monitors for missing issues and hands them to a download client, then renames and files the results into a consistent library structure that comic readers can parse.

Pairing it with a reader

Kapowarr manages the collection; it does not display it. Pair it with Kavita or Komga, both of which serve comics to web and mobile readers, and point them at the library Kapowarr organizes.

Why the metadata step matters

Comic filenames are notoriously inconsistent, and a library assembled by hand tends to be unreadable to any reader application. Enforcing structure automatically is most of the value here, arguably more than the acquisition side.

Deployment

Docker, with volumes for the library and the database. A ComicVine API key is required for metadata lookups.
