Krita 5.3.4

Krita 5.3.4 was released on September 16, 2026, together with Krita 6.0.4. We covered both in the news.

Two branches

5.3.x is the stable line built on Qt 5. It keeps getting features and fixes so artists mid-project are not forced onto a transitional release.

6.0.x is the Qt 6 line. Qt 5 has reached end of life, so the move is mandatory, and for a painting application that touches canvas rendering, colour management, and tablet input it is a large piece of work. 6.0.4 continues that transition with newer Wayland support.

If you want stability today, use 5.3.4. If you use a graphics tablet on a Wayland desktop and want the newest input handling, try 6.0.4.

Installing

The AppImage runs on almost any distribution without installation:

chmod +x krita-5.3.4-x86_64.AppImage
./krita-5.3.4-x86_64.AppImage

flatpak install flathub org.kde.krita

Tablets
