Sure is a personal finance app: accounts, transactions, budgets, investments, and net worth over time, on your own server. It is the community fork of Maybe, created after Maybe Finance stopped development and archived its repository on July 27, 2025.

Where it came from

Maybe began as a venture-funded startup building a polished personal finance and wealth management app. After the business model did not work out, the team open sourced the code under the AGPL, and later stopped maintaining it entirely. The AGPL license means anyone can continue the code, and Sure is where the community did. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Maybe Finance, and uses a new name because the Maybe name is a trademark.

Deployment

Sure is a Ruby on Rails application with PostgreSQL, and deploys with Docker Compose from the repository. If you were running Maybe, check the project’s migration guidance; as a fork of the same codebase, moving across is intended to be straightforward, but back up your database first.
