Pwgen: Self-Hosted Password Generator

Pwgen is a self-hosted password generator: a small web application that produces strong random credentials on infrastructure you control.

Why not use one of the many online generators

Typing a password into a website you do not control and then using it is an act of faith. Even assuming good intent, you have no way to verify that generation happens client-side or that nothing is logged. Hosting the generator yourself removes the question.

What it offers

Configurable length, character sets including symbols and unambiguous-character modes, and passphrase generation from wordlists, which produces credentials people can actually type when they must.

The better answer for most cases

If you use a password manager, generate passwords in it: Vaultwarden, KeePassXC, and Passbolt all include generators, and the credential lands straight into storage rather than passing through a clipboard. A standalone generator is most useful for the cases a manager does not cover: seeding a service account, a shared team secret, or a Wi-Fi passphrase for guests.
