Prowlarr: Indexer Manager for the *arr Stack
Prowlarr manages indexers in one place and pushes them to every *arr application, eliminating the most tedious part of maintaining a media stack.
The problem it removes
Without it, every indexer must be configured separately in Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, and Readarr. Change an API key and you edit it four times. Add an indexer and you add it four times. Prowlarr holds the definitions and syncs them outward automatically, so each application receives the indexers relevant to it.
What else it does
Manual search across all indexers at once, which is useful for finding something the automation missed. Indexer health monitoring so you notice when one starts failing. Statistics on which indexers actually produce results, which is genuinely informative when deciding what to keep paying for.
It supports both Usenet indexers and torrent trackers through built-in definitions covering a large number of sites, and it replaced Jackett as the standard choice by integrating natively rather than acting as a proxy.
Setup order
Configure Prowlarr first, then add your *arr applications to it as sync targets using their API keys. It pushes indexers to them rather than the other way around, which surprises people expecting to configure it from Sonarr’s side.
Access
Like the rest of the stack, keep it off the public internet and reach it over a VPN.
