phpIPAM: Open Source IP Address Management
phpIPAM keeps track of which IP addresses are used, by what, and where. Every network eventually outgrows the spreadsheet of static IPs, and an IPAM (IP address management) tool is the replacement: subnets, addresses, VLANs, and the devices behind them, all in one searchable place.
Features
- Subnets organised into sections, with nested subnets and usage graphs
- IP addresses with hostname, owner, device, and custom fields
- VLAN and VRF management
- Network scanning to discover live hosts and check which addresses are actually in use
- PowerDNS integration to keep DNS records in step with addresses
- A REST API for automation
- Users, groups, and permissions; LDAP and Active Directory authentication
Deployment
phpIPAM is a PHP application with MySQL or MariaDB. Install it on a standard PHP web server, or use the community-maintained Docker images. After installation, change the default admin password immediately.
Scanning uses ping and similar checks from the server, so run phpIPAM somewhere that can reach the networks it manages.

For small networks phpIPAM is simpler than NetBox; for data centres NetBox does more. Our IP addresses guide covers subnetting.
