GoProxy: Automatic Docker Reverse Proxy

GoProxy is a reverse proxy that configures itself by watching Docker, in the same spirit as Traefik but considerably smaller.

Automatic discovery

Rather than maintaining a config file listing every service, GoProxy reads container labels and builds routes from them. Start a container with the right labels and it becomes reachable at its hostname; stop it and the route disappears. For a homelab where services come and go, that removes a recurring editing chore.

Where it fits against the alternatives

Traefik does this with far more features and a correspondingly steeper learning curve. Caddy is simpler to configure but expects a config file rather than discovering containers. Nginx Proxy Manager offers a web UI over nginx. GoProxy targets the person who wants Traefik’s automation without Traefik’s surface area.

Certificates

Automatic HTTPS through Let’s Encrypt is handled for you, which together with discovery covers the two jobs a homelab reverse proxy exists to do. Our reverse proxy guide covers how the pieces fit together.
