Fedora 45 Slips a Week to October 27 After No-Go Decision

Fedora 45 will not ship on October 20 as planned. At the Final Go/No-Go meeting on October 15, the release was declared No-Go because there was no suitable final release candidate to evaluate. The new target is October 27.

That date is a target, not a promise: another Go/No-Go meeting on Thursday, October 22 will decide whether it holds. One-week slips like this are routine for Fedora, which delays rather than ship with known blocker bugs.

What is coming

Based on the beta, Fedora 45 brings:

  • Linux 7.2
  • GNOME 51 on Workstation
  • KDE Plasma 6.7 on the KDE edition
  • Anaconda installer improvements
  • Stricter RPM signature verification
  • Updated developer toolchains

Until then

The Fedora 45 beta is available and will update to the final release through normal updates, so you can install it now. On Fedora 44, wait for the release announcement before running dnf system-upgrade. Our DNF guide covers the upgrade commands.
