OpenTofu 1.13.0
OpenTofu 1.13 cuts "known after apply" noise in plans with new convert and assume functions, adds experimental linting and symbol libraries, ships Windows ARM64 builds, and removes WinRM provisioner support.

OpenTofu 1.13.0 was released on September 30, 2026. OpenTofu is the MPL-licensed, Linux Foundation fork of Terraform. We covered the release in the news, and our OpenTofu vs Terraform guide compares the two.
What changed
- New
convertandassume…functions resolve more values at plan time, so fewer attributes show as(known after apply)intofu plan - Experimental built-in linting

- Official Windows ARM64 builds
Before upgrading
- WinRM is removed from the
remote-execandfileprovisioners. Move to OpenSSH for Windows, or stay on 1.12 until you have. - This is the last series with official 32-bit 386 and ARM builds.
- macOS 13 or newer is required.
Installing
The release archive holds a single tofu binary:
tar xzf tofu_1.13.0_linux_amd64.tar.gz tofu
sudo install -m 0755 tofu /usr/local/bin/tofu
tofu version
The DEB and RPM packages install with sudo apt install ./tofu_1.13.0_amd64.deb or sudo dnf install ./tofu_1.13.0_amd64.rpm. OpenTofu also publishes APT and RPM repositories, so you get updates automatically. Our Terraform basics guide applies to tofu as well.
Verify Your Download
Download tofu_1.13.0_SHA256SUMS from the GitHub release and check the archive against it:
sha256sum --ignore-missing -c tofu_1.13.0_SHA256SUMS
The checksum file and each artifact also come with GPG signatures (.gpgsig) and Sigstore cosign signatures (.sig and .pem).
