Beszel: Lightweight Server Monitoring
Beszel is a self-hosted monitoring tool. A lightweight, self-hosted server monitoring hub with historical data, Docker container stats, and alerts, built for simplicity over configuration.
Why self-host Beszel
Full monitoring stacks like Prometheus and Grafana are powerful but represent real setup effort before you see a single useful graph. Beszel sits at the opposite end: a hub-and-agent design where deploying an agent on a new machine takes minutes, and you get CPU, memory, disk, network, and Docker container metrics with history, without writing a single scrape config or dashboard panel by hand.
What it does
Beszel falls into the Monitoring category of self-hosted software. A central hub, built on top of PocketBase, provides the dashboard and stores historical metrics, while a lightweight agent runs on each monitored system and reports back over a simple protocol. It covers the metrics most homelab and small-team setups actually check day to day: CPU, memory, disk usage, network throughput, per-container Docker stats, and threshold-based alerts, with multi-user access and OAuth/OIDC login supported for shared setups.
Community traction
The project has over 21.5k stars on GitHub and has grown quickly, frequently cited alongside Netdata and Glances as a comparison point for people choosing a lightweight monitoring tool rather than a full Prometheus and Grafana stack.
Deployment
Docker is the standard deployment path for both the hub and the agents, with minimal-resource containers on each side that make it comfortable to run even on constrained hardware like a Raspberry Pi being monitored alongside larger machines.
Alternatives
If Beszel does not fit your needs, common alternatives include Netdata, which offers deeper per-second real-time metrics at the cost of a heavier footprint, and a full Prometheus plus Grafana stack, which offers far more configurability at a substantially higher setup cost.
Maturity
The current release is v0.18.7. The project is pre-1.0 and under active development, with new metrics and features shipping regularly.

It is licensed under the MIT License, making it freely available for personal and commercial use.
