About Google Cloud Platform
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is Google’s public cloud offering, competing with AWS and Azure. Compute Engine provides virtual machines across a range of instance families, E2 (cost-optimized, shared CPU), N2/N2D (general purpose), C3 (compute-optimized), M3 (memory-optimized), and more. GCP is also known for BigQuery (serverless analytics), GKE (managed Kubernetes), Vertex AI, and Cloud Run (serverless containers).
Pricing
E2-micro (2 shared vCPU, 1GB RAM) starts at $6.11/mo on-demand, but is free in three US regions under the Always Free tier. Persistent Disk SSD storage is billed separately at $0.17/GB-month (standard HDD at $0.04/GB-month). Committed Use Discounts (1-year) save up to 37%, Spot VMs (preemptible) save up to 91%.
