About Genesis Cloud

Genesis Cloud runs its GPUs in Iceland and Norway on geothermal and hydroelectric power. The environmental claim is real rather than an offset arrangement, and the cool climate means less energy spent on cooling, which shows up in the pricing.

The product is deliberately simple. Pick a GPU, pick an image, get a VM. There is no Kubernetes layer to learn and no marketplace reliability score to interpret. For a researcher or small team that wants a GPU box in Europe without complexity, that simplicity is the feature.

Pricing

Hourly with per-minute granularity and no commitment. RTX 3080 instances sit around $0.30/hr, an A6000 around $1.10/hr, and an H100 around $2.30/hr. Long-term reservations reduce the rate significantly if you know your usage in advance.

Consumer-class cards like the 3080 are the value play here. They have less VRAM than the datacenter parts, which rules out the largest models, but for fine-tuning smaller ones or running inference they are far cheaper per unit of useful work.

Service Details

Instances are KVM virtual machines with full root access, running Ubuntu images with NVIDIA drivers and CUDA already in place. Snapshots and persistent volumes are available, so you can keep a configured environment between sessions.

There is a REST API and a Terraform provider. Private networking between instances in the same region supports multi-node setups, though the interconnect is standard networking rather than InfiniBand, so very large distributed training runs are better served elsewhere.

Data residency is entirely European, which is often the deciding factor over a cheaper American alternative.

Available in: Iceland, Norway
