About Oneqode

Oneqode, formerly GTA Teleguam’s data business, operates from Guam, which is an unusual and strategically interesting place to host. Guam is a landing point for a large number of trans-Pacific subsea cables, giving it low latency to Japan, the Philippines, Australia, and the US West Coast simultaneously.

For a service with users spread across the Pacific rim, that geography is difficult to replicate. A server in Tokyo is fast to Japan and slow to Australia; a server in Guam is reasonably fast to both.

The company also sells IP transit and subsea capacity, so it is an infrastructure operator rather than a reseller.

Pricing

Bare metal in Guam starts around $195/month for an 8-core machine with 20TB of transfer, with larger APAC compute around $320/month. Pacific bandwidth is expensive in absolute terms, which is reflected in the transfer allowances.

Anything at scale, and anything involving transit or connectivity products, is quoted.

Service Details

Full root, any Linux distribution, IPMI, and private networking between locations. Provisioning is measured in days rather than minutes, which is the reality of remote facilities.

The customer profile skews toward game hosting and content delivery for the Pacific and Southeast Asia, plus organisations with an operational requirement to be in the region.

There is a persistent niche interest in Guam as a jurisdiction: it is a US territory, so US law applies, but the network topology is Pacific rather than North American. Whether that combination helps or hinders depends entirely on your requirements, and is worth thinking through rather than assuming.

For most workloads this is the wrong provider by a wide margin. For Pacific latency it is close to the only one.
