About IONOS Dedicated Servers

IONOS is the hosting arm of United Internet, the German group that also owned 1&1, and it is one of the largest hosting companies in Europe. The dedicated server line sits alongside its shared hosting and VPS products rather than being a separate business.

Two things distinguish it. Billing is per minute with no setup fee and no minimum term, which is unusual for bare metal and means a server used for three days costs three days. And the German data centers put you squarely under GDPR with a German legal entity, which for European businesses removes a whole category of compliance argument.

Pricing

Ryzen-based servers start around €55/month for 6 cores and 32GB, around €130/month for 12 cores with NVMe, and dual Xeon Gold configurations around €340/month. Unmetered 1Gbps is standard.

No setup fee and no contract is the pitch, and it holds. The caution with IONOS generally is that promotional first-year pricing on some products renews higher, so read the renewal rate on anything discounted.

Service Details

Full root access, any Linux distribution, remote console, and integration with the wider IONOS cloud so a dedicated server can sit on the same private network as their virtual instances. That hybrid arrangement is genuinely useful and not universally available.

Backup, monitoring, and additional IP addresses are available as add-ons. There is an API and a Terraform provider.

The support experience is the most variable part of the offering by customer report, which is common for providers at this scale. The infrastructure itself is solid and the data centers are their own.

Available in: Frankfurt, Berlin, London, Madrid, Lenexa (Kansas), Worcester (Massachusetts)
