whatis fstab
fstab
Also known as: /etc/fstab
The /etc/fstab file listing which filesystems to mount at boot, where, and with which options.
What Is /etc/fstab in Linux?
Each line has six fields: device (ideally UUID=...), mount point, filesystem type, mount options, dump flag, and fsck order. systemd turns each line into a mount unit at boot.
A bad fstab entry can drop you into emergency mode. Test changes with sudo mount -a before rebooting, and add nofail for removable or network drives that may not be present.
Example
UUID=3f1c... /mnt/data ext4 defaults,noatime,nofail 0 2 Learn more about fstab
