NVIDIA 595.104.02 was released on September 23, 2026, a month after 595.99.02. It is a maintenance update to the 595 production branch. We covered it in the news.

What changed

Wayland HDR crash. Unvalidated VkHdrMetadataEXT values from Vulkan applications were forwarded to the Wayland color-management-v1 protocol, which could crash the session. The driver now validates them first. If HDR games on a Wayland desktop have been crashing your session, this is the fix.

Large page tables. Allocating GPU page tables larger than 2 GiB failed. That mostly affects compute and very-large-memory workloads.

If your system works, stay on 595 and take this update.

Installing

Use your distribution’s packages rather than this .run file where possible. Distribution packages rebuild the kernel module through DKMS on each kernel update and handle Secure Boot module signing; the .run installer leaves both to you, and is the most common cause of a black screen after a kernel update.

# Fedora (RPM Fusion)
sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia
# Ubuntu
sudo ubuntu-drivers install
# Arch
sudo pacman -S nvidia-open
nvidia-smi --query-gpu=driver_version --format=csv

Our NVIDIA drivers on Linux guide covers each distribution in detail, and DKMS explained covers what happens at kernel updates. For Turing and newer GPUs, the open GPU kernel modules are the recommended kernel side.
