MX Linux has consistently ranked among the most-visited distributions on DistroWatch for years, built by a collaboration between the antiX and former MEPIS communities on top of Debian’s stable base.
What’s in 25.2 “Infinity”
This release is based on Debian 13.5 “Trixie” and ships an updated 6.12.90 Debian kernel across the standard editions, with the Xfce-AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) variant carrying a newer 7.0.9 liquorix kernel for better support on recent hardware. AHS editions also update to Mesa 26.0.1 for improved graphics driver support.
Editions
The flagship Xfce edition remains MX’s most tested and recommended option. KDE Plasma and Fluxbox editions are also available, along with a dedicated Raspberry Pi respin (mx25.2_rpi_respin.zip) for ARM hardware.
MX Tools
MX Linux bundles its own set of MX Tools, a collection of GUI utilities for tasks like managing the bootloader, cleaning up the system, and creating live-USB installers, built on top of the standard Debian base without replacing its package management.
