Garuda Linux takes Arch’s rolling-release core and adds a heavily themed, performance-tuned desktop experience out of the box, aimed particularly at gamers and users who want an Arch-based system without assembling every piece manually.
Dr460nized: The Flagship Edition
The Dr460nized edition ships KDE Plasma with a distinctive dark, neon-accented theme, a customized layout with a floating panel and a fullscreen application launcher, and pre-configured window effects. Other official editions include GNOME, Xfce, and several more, each carrying the same underlying performance tuning.
Performance Tuning Out of the Box
Garuda ships the linux-zen kernel by default (tuned for desktop responsiveness), along with ananicy-cpp for automatic process priority management and zram configured for compressed swap in RAM, all aimed at keeping the desktop responsive under load without manual tuning.
Btrfs and Snapshots
Like openSUSE Tumbleweed, Garuda defaults to Btrfs with automatic Snapper snapshots and a bootloader entry to roll back a broken update, mitigating one of the bigger risks of running a rolling-release distribution.
